Mental Health Awareness Week 2024 - Morton in the Community

No matter the stage of your life Morton in the Community is here to support you

Morton in the Community provides a range of exciting programmes across the areas of Sport, Education, Employability and Health. Read more about how they can help you get moving and support your mental health.

What activities do you offer to help boost people's mental health?

At Morton in the Community, we deliver over 25 projects on a weekly basis and within all these we aim to improve physical and mental health of all in attendance. We have peer support group Team Talk for men aged 18+ to attend Cappielow and feel included this is free of charge and available to all, every Monday evening. Our walking footballers meet weekly, and we also encourage them to socialise out with the football to improve community connections. Women’s Recreational football which is a weekly programme for Women to play football in a relaxed environment, improves mental health as the environment is welcoming and supportive.

Why is movement important for our mental health?

Movement is extremely important for MH, as it gives you a great sense of achievement and allows you to achieve a sense of accomplishment.

What is your message to encourage new people to get involved?

The message is simple for me, no matter the stage of your life Morton in the Community is here to support you, if we don’t have a specific programme we will help signpost you to local services.
