Warm Hand of Friendship – Financial Fitness

150 new Inverclyde residents will receive telephone-based welfare benefit and money advice over the period November 2022 to March 2023

Since 1999, Financial Fitness have provided over 73,000 advice appointments and successfully claimed over £71,000,000 worth of benefits for their clients.

As circumstances become increasingly difficult for individuals and families, Financial Fitness is helping to build resilience and offer advice during the cost of living crisis. We chatted to them about how they put Warm Hand of Friendship funding to use.

What is your warm space or activity?

Rather than providing a warm space, Financial Fitness are providing additional telephone triage support for Inverclyde residents affected by both the energy situation and cost-of-living crisis. Thanks to this funding, we are doubling the level of telephone triage provision from one day per week to two days per week, over the period November 2022 to March 2023.

Who is benefitting?

150 new Inverclyde residents will receive telephone-based welfare benefit and money advice over the period November 2022 to March 2023 to improve people’s financial position through income maximisation and debt/money advice.

In what way are people benefitting?

Inverclyde residents are receiving initial telephone advice and, if required, follow-up advice (either by telephone or face-to-face) to improve their financial situation during the energy and cost-of-living crisis.

Have you received any feedback about your warm activity/space from service users?

Anecdotal evidence from clients receiving telephone advice so far has been positive and welcoming.

How important do you think your warm space/activity is in supporting local people?

Vitally important in the current climate as we are providing people with the opportunity to improve their financial situation during these difficult times.

What is your message to encourage people to take part in your warm space/activity?
