About the Service
Cycling Without Age Scotland (CWAS) launched its Inverclyde service in Gourock with the unveiling of two trishaws in 2024.
Cycling Without Age originates from Denmark where it was said to help people 'feel the wind in their hair' again. (Not a problem we have here in the west coast of Scotland!) However, thanks to the support from CWA Scotland and funding from Greater Renfrewshire and Inverclyde Community Led Local Development Fund, we were able to purchase two trishaws for Inverclyde and start up the CWAS Gourock Chapter.
Based at Battery Park, passengers can meet the crew there and go either towards Gourock, as far as the Gourock Pool, or towards Greenock as far as the Esplanade Cafe. Pick up points along these routes are possible if someone can't make it to the Battery Park.
Older people from Sheltered Housing and local Care Homes have been enjoying trips on the trishaws throughout the area. We also welcome family outings and people on their own. All of our volunteers love what they do, love meeting new people and having a chat.
The project is run solely by volunteers and relies on fundraising, so whilst rides are 'free' we will always welcome donations.
