About the Service
Wednesday Health Walk from Gourock Train Station
This walk take place every Wednesday morning. Walkers meet outside Gourock train station, near the snack van (or inside near the bike stands if very wet). Gentle walks of 1 hour (can be shorter for those who require a shorter walk/gentler pace).
Led by volunteer walk leaders, health Walks are inclusive, relaxed walks, on mainly flat routes with places to rest. Open to all and designed to help you stay active.
On this route we usually have 2 separate groups each week:
- Stroll – our beginner’s group where we walk slowly and take regular breaks. Many of the walkers in this group have sticks and we walk for anything from 15 minutes – 50 minutes (with stops to rest and catch our breath).
- Stride – our standard pace walk. 1 hour usually on flat routes.
- We occasionally also have a 3rd group for those who want a brisker route with inclines (this depends on who turns up and demand)
Once a month we have a social get together after the walk (11.30-12.30) in St Johns Church hall. All walkers are invited to join us post walk for a cuppa, cake and a chat.
Please contact Jenni Murray (jenni.murray@cyclinguk.org) or 07342 082 882 for further information and to register before attending your first walk. Thereafter, you can attend weekly or whenever suits.
